Aaron Nola Announces Personal News Amid 12th Phillies Season

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola is now in his 12th season with the organization, yet his role has completely shifted. He is no longer at the top of Philadelphia's starting rotation, and it is easy to understand why his role has changed.

Nola has struggled since the start of the 2025 season. This year, it has not been much different, as the former All-Star has posted a 5.55 ERA across his first 12 starts. Nola's strikeout numbers remain strong, yet he has not been able to limit hard contact.

For a Phillies team that is looking to catch the Braves at the top of the National League East, Nola getting back to his peak form would be a huge boost.

Nola got the ball for Sunday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox and had an underwhelming performance. The 33-year-old allowed five earned runs on six hits and issued four walks.

Ahead of first pitch, Nola made a personal announcement alongside his wife, Hunter Jayde Harrington. The two revealed that they had welcomed their second child on Instagram.

In a collaborative post, the caption read, " Walter Jude Nola 5.28.26 8lb 12oz." The post also included a photo of their first son. With his family growing off the field, Nola will hope that newfound joy helps revive his career on it.

Nola needs to get back to his prime, and the Phillies really need him to. This past offseason, they let left-hander Ranger Suarez depart in free agency for the Boston Red Sox, and the main reason the front office could not bring him back is how much is committed to Nola.

Nola is signed through the 2030 season on a seven-year, $172 million contract. His play clearly has not been worth that thus far. Nola will look to get back on track next week for his next start, which will likely come against the division rival New York Mets
