Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Dodgers finalized a one-year deal on Monday, prompting the veteran first baseman to bid farewell to the Los Angeles Angels via social media.
and Angels fans everywhere for your support. You will always hold a special place in my heart. While everyone in the big leagues wants to compete every day, I understand roles do change and that is something I’ve accepted for the past couple of years.

He also shared his excitement about joining the Dodgers and helping the team compete for another title this season.
help the ballclub win a championship in 2021. I’ve seen up close just how talented this team is and I look forward to contributing.

The Angels designated Pujols for assignment on May 6 and he cleared waivers one day later. The 41-year-old slashed .198/.250/.372 with five home runs and 12 RBI for the Halos this season.
Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina expressed interest in a reunion with Pujols and Nolan Arenado saluted him, but there was no place for him in St. Louis.
In L.A., Pujols will likely serve as a backup first baseman to Max Muncy. His role should become more clear in the coming days.
