Alex Bregman Suggested to Avoid Chicago Cubs ‘At All Costs’

With the news breaking of Pete Alonso re-signing with the New York Mets, Alex Bregman is now the biggest name on the free agency market and someone the Chicago Cubs would love to have.

However, not everyone thinks he'd be an ideal fit.

Paul Hembekides of ESPN believes Bregman should "avoid the Cubs at all costs," citing Bregman's gap-to-gap ability to hit doubles not playing as well as it did with the Houston Astros at Wrigley Field.

Hembekides explains his research from Baseball Savant and Park Factors, explaining that Wrigley Field is the hardest MLB park out of any to hit doubles for a right-handed hitter, and since Bregman relies so much on being able to hit doubles to be a productive hitter, that he should stay away from the park.

It will be very interesting to see if Bregman will take Hembekide's research into account, as the Cubs are still very much in the mix for the top free agent.

According to Bleacher Report, Bregman ranks as the league's top free agent.

Later in the clip of Hembekides on ESPN Insider Buster Olney's radio show, he says Bregman should be looking at destinations like the Boston Red Sox or Toronto Blue Jays, where it is much easier to be successful as a right-handed hitter.
