It’s been a wild ride for Alex Cora throughout his career as a manager. Last year, he led the team to the playoffs, and this year, he has had one of the worst starts in franchise history. The Red Sox decided to pull the plug on Cora for the team’s miserable performance.
Cora won a World Series as a player with the team in 2007 and led the team to win the World Series in 2018. His job in Boston seemed to be pretty secure after all he did over the years, but 2026 was the limit.
The former manager took to social media, stating that he was happy after the team let him go. While many anticipated that Alex Cora would join the Philadelphia Phillies after they fired Rob Thomson, Cora wanted to take some time off.
Apart from his involvement in the sign-stealing scandal with the Houston Astros, Cora has earned a decent reputation in the league. However, everything has an end. Alex Cora took to social media to thank the Red Sox with an emotional and bold message.
“Just before 4 a.m., Cora sent a “reply all” to Kennedy’s initial email to every single member of the Red Sox organization announcing the changes. Cora thanked the organization for the support”

“Good morning. I wanted to take a moment before heading home to thank you.
Being part of this organization has meant a great deal to me. As a player and as a manager.
Like I always tell free agents, I’m glad my kids grew up here. It’s unique, special and magical.
Thank you for treating me with respect and most importantly accept me as AC. I’m grateful for this experience, it made me better.
We are happy to have the time to be full time parents, that’s the truth, but also we are disappointed that we didn’t finish the job.
I respect the direction the organization is taking. A lot of talented people will help to accomplish the ultimate goal, having another duck boat parade.
Thank you for the hard work, sleepless nights, professionalism and effort to help me lead this great organization.
One last thing, keep showing up everyday and don’t take the Fenway experience for granted, your working place is the best in the world.
Gracias
AC”
Alex Cora is not coming back to Boston for sure. Despite getting an offer to be the Phillies manager, Cora decided to head back home in Puerto Rico. He stated that family was a priority at this moment and never wanted to join the Phillies.
The Phillies are doing worse than the Red Sox, and it would have another challenging role for Alex Cora with a struggling franchise.
