The Boston Red Sox are riding a four-game losing streak as they look to flip things around against the Los Angeles Angels and avoid a series sweep.
Boston has been trying to stay relevant in the American League Wild Card race, as they are currently 2.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the last spot.
However, the AL East is still up for grabs after the New York Yankees have begun to slump and carry a six-game lead on the Red Sox for the top position.
Boston will continue their pursuit, but it seems that it will be without first-year Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman for the foreseeable future.
Bregman has been out since May 23 after sustaining a quad strain while running towards first base in a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Manager Alex Cora provided an update on the third baseman oon Wednesday, saying, "It 'looks like' Alex Bregman won't be back until after the All-Star break," according to Red Sox beat writer Tim Healey.
It "looks like" Alex Bregman won't be back until after the All-Star break, Alex Cora said. So that would be July 18 at the earliest.

This would set up Bregman's return to be on July 18 in a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at the earliest.
The Red Sox third baseman signed a three-year, $120 million deal that includes an opt-out after the 2026 season and a player option for 2027, giving him the opportunity to become a free agent as early as next offseason.
Alex Bregman was off to a hot start to begin his first season with the team before sustaining the injury. Through 51 games played, he has a .299 BA, .385 OBP, .553 SLG, and a .938 OPS while hitting 11 home runs and 35 RBI.
After Boston paved the way for Bregman to be the everyday starter at third base after trading away Rafael Devers back on June 15, it seems that Alex Bregman will be getting nearly two months of rehab time before returning to the field.
