The Chicago Cubs enter the offseason with plenty of uncertainty surrounding what their roster will look like in 2027. LHP Shota Imanaga, OF/DH Seiya Suzuki, OF Ian Happ, RHP Kevin Gausman, LHP David Peterson, and OF Michael Conforto are all set to become free agents the day after the World Series.

The Cubs also have club options on RHP Colin Rea and RHP Jacob Webb, while RHP Clay Holmes holds a player option. LHP Matthew Boyd, C Carson Kelly, RHP Hunter Harvey, and LHP Caleb Thielbar each have mutual options. Add in 12 players eligible for arbitration, along with the uncertainty surrounding baseball’s financial landscape as the sport approaches a new collective bargaining agreement, and there are plenty of questions facing the Cubs heading into the offseason.

Here, we’ll take a look at all 12 Cubs players eligible for arbitration and their projected salaries for next season. Notably, the current CBA expires on December 1, while tender decisions typically must be made by mid-November. That means the Cubs will have to make these decisions before any potential lockout and without knowing what the next CBA will ultimately look like.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, which consistently does an excellent job projecting arbitration salaries, here are the 12 Cubs players currently in arbitration and what they could earn next season.

  • Justin Steele: $6.8MM
  • Edward Cabrera: $4.8MM
  • Braxton Garrett $1.6MM
  • Javier Assad: $2.3MM (Cubs hold a $3.3MM option)
  • Tyler Austin: $1.3MM
  • Miguel Amaya: $1.7MM
  • Gabriel Arias: $1.3MM
  • Ryan Rolison: $1.1MM
  • Ethan Roberts: $800K
  • Michael Busch: $5.4MM
  • Ben Brown: $1.3MM
  • Daniel Palenci: $1.2MM

The 12 players combine for a projected total salary of $29.6 million. While the Cubs have a dozen players in arbitration, none are projected to earn a double-digit salary, meaning there is a strong chance the vast majority of them will be tendered contracts for the 2027 season.
