The 'Most HRs by an MLB first baseman' quiz

Neither the Atlanta Braves nor the Philadelphia Phillies entered their Game 3 Wild Card clash with a great track record in winner-take-all Playoff games. But after holding off the Phillies all season in the National League East, the Braves jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a Michael Harris III first-inning homer and never looked back.

Ozzie Albies added a two-run blast in the fourth, Matt Olson added a solo shot in the seventh and ace Chris Sale – who started Game 1 – got the final four outs on short rest to send Atlanta to the NLDS with a 6-2 victory.

The win was the Braves first in a winner-take-all game since beating the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the 1996 NLCS. For the Phillies, it was another missed opportunity to end their drought in such games that stretches back to a 1980 win over Houston – also in the NLCS.

Next up for the Braves is a date with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who finished three wins behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the best record in baseball and are looking to win their third World Series in a row.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Matt Olson has been one of the best hitting first basemen in baseball since he took over as the full-time starter for the Athletics in 2018, hitting .256 while racking up 329 home runs and 901 RBI so far in his career. With that being said, can you name the MLB first basemen with at least 300 dingers to their credit?

Good luck!
