As highlighted by the Arizona broadcast team, the Diamondbacks set a modern-day MLB record by scoring 14 runs in a single inning on Opening Day.

The last time a team scored more than 14 runs in one inning on Opening Day dates all the way back to 1900.

Additionally, this achievement shattered the team’s previous record for the most runs scored in an inning.

The historic third inning began with a Geraldo Perdomo single to right field, and remarkably, the team managed to avoid any outs until the eighth batter stepped up to the plate.

Overall, the D-backs amassed 13 hits during the inning, with Blaze Alexander contributing his first major league hit to the onslaught.

By the end of the first three innings, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had notched three hits and driven in five runs. Following closely were Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, Gabriel Moreno, and Eugenio Suarez, each boasting at least two hits.
