The Boston Red Sox are running out of time to add another starter to the rotation.

Boston's rotation still has serious question marks and is in an even tougher spot than it was in 2023 due to the injury to top free agent addition Lucas Giolito.

The Red Sox certainly still could make another move or two but Opening Day is just about here. Somehow there still are a few options out there, but they likely will sign soon so the Red Sox will need to act fast.

One player who still is out there and has been mentioned as a possible option for the Red Sox on multiple occasions is veteran starter Mike Clevinger.

He impressed last season with the Chicago White Sox and would be a big help for Boston if it could land him. Plus, it doesn't sound like he's asking for a massive deal as he reportedly is looking for a two-year deal worth around $20 million, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"Veteran free-agent starter Mike Clevinger has informed teams that he is seeking a two-year deal in excess of $20 million," Nightengale said.

Clevinger has been linked to the Red Sox and it's not hard to see why. He had a 3.77 ERA in 24 starts last season with the White Sox and has a 3.45 career ERA in seven big league seasons.

The righty could go a long way in shoring up the Red Sox's rotation and isn't too expensive. Boston still needs some help and he needs to find his next opportunity. A signing makes almost too much sense.
