While normally recognized for his Gold Glove high-caliber defense, Andrés Giménez has been reliable with the barrel, showing early signs of a potential offensive rebound season.
The Toronto Blue Jays shortstop is batting .287 with three home runs, 16 RBI, and four stolen bases. Last season, he was batting only .210. His hot start this season included going 9-for-26 with seven RBI.
His clutch hitting has been on point, where he provided a walk-off hit in the 2026 season-opener. Overall, so far, he's been consistent with generating run production.
His recent offensive surge indicates a possible return to his 2022 All-Star season. His offensive boost has been a luxury rather than an asset in the Blue Jays' offense.

Gimenez's adjustments at the plate demonstrate how he's turned to a closed-off stance, which has functioned as a better approach for him.
According to Baseball Savant, Gimenez ranks in the 84th percentile with a 14.6% strikeout rate. As well as a squared-up rate of 29.4%, ranking in the 77th percentile, and a walk-rate of 4.2%, showcasing good plate discipline.
Gimenez looked more confident and comfortable at the plate with a .781 OPS across early action this season. As well as a 214 wRC+ at the beginning of April, especially when the Blue Jays have had issues generating offense and scoring runs.
Through his first two games this season, Gimenez also went 6-for-8 with a triple, a steal, and four RBI. While his offensive upsurge may not remain at the same level it's currently at, his 2026 performance is expected to be an improvement from last season.
Alongside Gimenez, Clement has also been a sparkplug, and the two have worked well to deliver clutch at-bats.
