Andy Pages News Emerges After Removal From Dodgers Lineup

For a team loaded with superstars from top to bottom, nobody expected Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages to be one of the team's most valuable players. Pages had an abysmal postseason run last year, collecting just four hits in 51 at-bats.

However, Pages has shown this year that is not the player he is. Now in his third season, Pages has outperformed a majority of the roster.

Across 65 games, the 25-year-old has posted a .283 batting average, .330 on-base percentage, .852 OPS, 14 home runs and an MLB-leading 53 RBIs. He has continued to play excellent defense in center field and owns 3.8 bWAR entering Sunday, which leads the league.

His performance thus far will likely earn him a trip to Philadelphia to represent the National League at the All-Star Game.

Ahead of Sunday's series finale with the Los Angeles Angels, Pages was unexpectedly removed from the lineup. Instead, backup outfielder Alex Call drew the start in center field in his place.

He was not the only everyday player out of the lineup, as both Mookie Betts and Will Smith were also absent, but his absence was the most surprising. This marks the first time Pages has not been in the starting lineup all season.

Fortunately, it is just a scheduled day off and he is not dealing with any injury. "Will Smith (neck) isn't in the Dodgers lineup. Scheduled days off for Mookie Betts and Andy Pages," reported Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

The Dodgers have an off day Monday as the team heads to Pittsburgh for a three-game set against the Pirates, which will likely see Pages reinserted into the starting nine.

He will be available as a pinch-hitter Sunday, giving manager Dave Roberts an excellent right-handed option off the bench if necessary. If he does not appear, Pages will effectively get two days off, and that kind of rest goes a long way over the course of a 162-game season.
