The Los Angeles Angels are in desperate need of a spark. They're not only 2-8 in their last 10 games, but they lost 13-1 to the Detroit Tigers in their series finale on Sunday.
The Angels (13-20) are last place in the AL West, 6.5 games behind the first-place Seattle Mariners. They're struggling on both sides of the ball, as they rank 29th in MLB with a team .214 batting average and 27th with a 5.36 ERA. They're also 27th with a 1.49 WHIP and 26th with a .650 OPS.
However, Los Angeles made a move on Tuesday that could help its lineup, via Angels PR.
"Angels transactions:
• Selected the contracts of RHP Connor Brogdon (#75) & RHP Héctor Neris (#54)
• Reinstated INF Yoán Moncada from IL
• Optioned INF Niko Kavadas to Triple-A Salt Lake
• Designated RHP Touki Toussaint for assignment
• Following Sunday’s game, RHP Michael Darrell-Hicks was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake," the team announced.
Moncada signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Angels this past winter after spending the last eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox. The 29-year-old owns a career slash line of .254/.332/.423 with 93 homers and 343 RBI.
Moncada has played just eight games thus far in 2025 and is 4-for-21 with four RBI and six walks. The 6-foot, 220-pounder played for the Cuban international team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, and was the only active MLB player on the squad besides Luis Robert Jr..
Los Angeles starts a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
