Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani hits rare upper deck home run at Mariners' T-Mobile Park

Los Angeles Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani continues to make history.

The dual-threat's Major League Baseball-leading 33rd home run of the season Friday night put him in rare company in the history of the Seattle Mariners' ballpark.

Ohtani's solo shot in the third inning off Marco Gonzales was hit into the top deck of right field at T-Mobile Park. He became just the sixth player to reach the upper deck of the right-field seats since the stadium opened in 1999.

Ohtani also became the first player since Albert Pujols in 2006 to hit 33-plus home runs in his first 82 games of a season.

Angels starter Alex Cobb believes the ball was hit well over 500 feet, but MLB's Statcast projected the homer at 463 feet

"I think that Statcast was wrong. I think that ball was well over 500 feet. ... I know we talk about Shohei all the time, but we're not talking about them enough. It's just incredible,'' Cobb said, according to ESPN.

The 27-year-old is hitting .279/.362/.704 this season with 33 home runs and 70 RBI in 82 games. He was selected to his first All-Star Game this year and is the first player in the history of MLB's Midsummer Classic to be chosen as both a position player and pitcher.

Ohtani is also slated to compete in the Home Run Derby.
