One of the bright spots for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2025 has been prospect Jordan Lawlar, as he has been producing nonstop in Triple-A Reno.

There hasn’t been anybody in the Pacific Coast League that’s been on a hotter tear than Jordan Lawlar. Just yesterday, Lawlar hit his fifth home run of the season, tying the game in an exhilarating fashion.

Lawlar, who is MLB Pipeline’s No. 10 overall prospect has been hitting a .409 batting average that includes three home runs, two doubles, and a triple in the last week.

Ketel Marte, who sustained a hamstring injury and landed on the injured list in early April, has yet to return. The D-Backs have turned to Tim Tawa to take over duties at second base. Tawa so far is hitting .185 on the season with five hits and two home runs. Lawlar is building up a resume that is hard to ignore, though it is uncertain if he will get the call to the big leagues while Marte is out, as his return is hopefully sooner rather than later.

It does seem like it is only a matter of time before we see Jordan Lawlar called back up to the Arizona Diamondbacks roster, as he has been raking lately. Lawlar 2025 is hitting a .325 batting average this season with 20 RBIs, five home runs, and eight stolen bases. His .423 on-base percentage shows how useful he can be in more ways than one, as his versatility could be on display at Chase Field in the future.

There are limited opportunities for him, as the infield seems pretty solidified as of now with third baseman Eugenio Suarez, shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, and second baseman Ketel Marte. Though if anything like the injury bug comes back, or Arizona needs another strong bat in the lineup, he should hopefully be in line to get some playing time.
