Aroldis Chapman letting go of hard feelings toward Yankees?

Years ago, Cuban superstar Aroldis Chapman was the New York Yankees' next big thing.

With Mariano Rivera gone, the flamethrowing southpaw took the Bronx by storm as the team's new closer, though things didn't end on a high note.

The Yankees left Chapman off the playoff roster, citing his absence from the team, which ultimately led to his exit after an injury-riddled, inconsistent season.

However, it looks like he's buried the hatchet. Months after claiming they owed him an apology, he told New York Post insider Jon Heyman that it was all water under the bridge.

Aroldis Chapman might be okay with a return to the Bronx

“I turned the page a long time ago,” Chapman told Heyman. “They asked me a question and I answered.”

Chapman said Yankees general manager Brian Cashman should apologize for how he treated him. Yankees manager Aaron Boone, however, shut down that narrative right away.

Apology or not, the Yankees would be wise to keep an eye out for the Cuban Missile.

He's been one of the few bright spots for the Boston Red Sox this season, and while they might set a steep price to send him to their lifelong rivals, he can certainly come in handy for them.

Chapman has turned back the clock this season, playing his best baseball since his arrival in New York, logging a 1.50 ERA and 51 saves across 97 appearances since joining the team, per Baseball Reference.

The Aug. 3 trade deadline is zooming in, and the Red Sox might have no choice but to move him. Likewise, the Yankees could use a reliable arm for their bullpen.

At the end of the day, run-ins and fall-outs happen in sports all the time, and both parties have to do what's best for themselves.

This time, letting go of what happened in 2022 might be in both of their best interests.
