Ashley Rodon's Sweet Tribute to Carlos's MLB Anniversary Triggers Fan Backlash

Carlos Rodon hit a huge MLB milestone on Wednesday. The New York Yankees left-hander hit the 10-year mark of major league service time. That comes with a pension and health care.

His wife, Ashley, marked the moment with a sweet message on X.com.

“Congrats Daddy Los, 10 years! The best is yet to come Proud always!”

She is obviously quite proud of how far he’s come and what he has accomplished. It was really quite sweet.

The replies weren’t so nice, though.

“We better hope the best is yet to come. Get his head straight Ashley.” was among the first responses to the post.

“He has a 5 ERA btw.” was the next reply. It’s actually 5.19, but who’s counting/

“He needs to be better. A lot better.” was another reply.

There were a few congratulations mixd in.

I still remember living in the Raleigh/Durham area and watching him pitch for NC State. Extremely happy for him (and you)

But the temperature was clear. Rodon’s three years in pinstripes haven’t been that great.

That’s life in the Yankees’ spotlight.

This year, with Gerrit Cole out for the year and Luis Gil missing the first few months, the Yankees need Rodon to step up into a bigger role.

So far, Rodon has made three starts. He’s given up six home runs in 11.1 innings. His ERA sits at 5.19. He is in year three of a six-year $162 million deal with the Yankees.

Ashley’s post wasn’t about his numbers, but about his grind. The years he worked to get here, with her at his side. It was a family achievement as much as anything.

For the fans though, it’s only about results.
