With the Houston Astros working their way to being on the right side of .500, they came into Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians looking to clinch a much-needed series victory.

Although they are no longer the Astros of old, who won two World Series in four appearances from 2017-22, they still have a handful of key players from those teams. Arguably the most notable and synonymous with the team's rise to prominence is second baseman, Jose Altuve.

The 35-year-old has an MVP to his name, nine All-Star selections and has also won the Silver Slugger Award seven times. While he may not have the speed on the basepaths or pop at the plate that he once had, he has been a mainstay in the Astros lineup.

On Tuesday, the Astros revealed that Altuve had hit a major milestone few players have reached. As shared to X, Tuesday's bout with Cleveland marked Altuve's 2,000th career MLB game.

"GOAT 2K," wrote the Astros on x.

Coming into Tuesday's game, Altuve was hitting .281 with three home runs and eight RBI on the season.

Altuve signed with the Astros in 2007 out of Venezuela and debuted in 2011. He has spent the entirety of his 16-year MLB career in Houston, boasting a career batting average of .303, knocking in 897 RBI and also belting 258 home runs despite being just 5-feet-6 inches tall.

It's unclear how much baseball he has left in the tank, but he will forever be a great underdog success story.
