Astros call up No. 2 prospect Korey Lee

On Friday, the Houston Astros called up highly regarded catching prospect Korey Lee.

Houston placed catcher Jason Castro on the 10-day injured list with left knee discomfort on Friday, leaving a hole for the Astros behind the plate.

Lee, 23, was selected by the Astros in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft with the No. 32 pick.

In 64 games for the Astros' Triple-A affiliate Sugar Land, Lee batted .226/.285/.419 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI.

While catcher is Lee's primary position, he didn't become a full-time backstop until 2019. Lee batted from the designated hitter spot this season at Triple-A Sugar Land and played sparingly in left field.

The call-up to the majors came unexpectedly for Lee, who told reporters on Friday that he's slept about two hours since last night.

"I had no idea that it was going to be like this," Lee told the media on Friday. "It's something like I said, I've dreamed about my entire life, and now it's actually here. I'm going to embrace it and not take anything for granted, and I'm going to enjoy this moment."
