Athletics Reveal Reason Behind Nick Kurtz's Removal From Lineup

Athletics' first baseman Nick Kurtz was noticeably absence from the lineup prior to the team's series opener against the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

Kurtz has continued Rookie of the Year Award winning play from the 2025 season into 2026.

In 94 games played, the All-Star is slashing .264/.402/.499, good for a .901 OPS, with 21 home runs, 69 RBI and seven stolen bases.

Kurtz missed time in mid-July due to a right thumb capsule sprain that he sustained on July 10th, the injury caused him to miss nine games as well as the All-Star Game in Philadelphia.

Kurtz was activated from the 10-day injured list on July 25.

He is out of the lineup for the series opener against the Red Sox, it was later revealed this was a scheduled off day as he is still easing back into playing from his injury.

Kurtz has gone 1-for-7 with a three-run home run since returning from the injured list. He has not played his best despite the home run.

Kurtz will likely return to the lineup tomorrow.
