Pitchers and catchers begin reporting around MLB today, Feb. 10, with early workouts starting for some clubs right away. The Athletics are set to hold their first pitchers and catchers workout Wednesday, Feb. 11, with the first full-squad workout scheduled for Monday, Feb. 16, in Mesa, Arizona.
Early roster projections show a clear core and a few jobs still up for grabs.
Shea Langeliers leads the catching group, with Austin Wynns projected behind him. Nick Kurtz anchors first base after his breakout rookie season. Jeff McNeil projects as the primary second baseman, while Jacob Wilson holds down shortstop.
Third base looks like one of the first spring competitions. Max Muncy and Darell Hernaiz sit in that mix. In the outfield, Tyler Soderstrom, Denzel Clarke and Lawrence Butler project as regulars, with a fourth outfielder role still open. Brent Rooker remains the everyday designated hitter.
The rotation picture starts with veterans Luis Severino and Jeffrey Springs. Luis Morales and Jacob Lopez project next in line.
After that, the fifth starter job stands out as the clearest spring battle. That race matters because it can reshape the bullpen, too.
Las Vegas fans also have something more concrete than projections.
The A’s will play six regular-season home games at Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerlin. They host the Milwaukee Brewers for three games June 8–10, then host the Colorado Rockies for three games June 12–14.
Those dates give the season a real Vegas checkpoint, even while the franchise continues its stopover in California.

Away from the lineup card, the Las Vegas ballpark site shows visible activity.
A YouTube construction update filmed Monday, Feb. 9, from the OYO parking deck by Raiders 1967, who posts under the name Duntov, shows crews installing shoring and decking on the northeast side of the site. The video shows cranes lifting materials into position and a concrete pump truck operating on the outfield side.
The same update shows continued work on a roof buttress structure, with rebar and formwork visible. It is third-party footage, but it gives fans a clear snapshot of what is happening on site.
On the business side, a recent Clark County filing pegged Bally’s related mixed-use development tied to the project at an estimated $1.19 billion, with a target completion by the end of 2030.
So the A’s story stays split for now. Mesa will settle roster roles. Las Vegas will track the build and that June homestand that brings MLB games back to the valley.
