Atlanta Braves First Baseman Matt Olson made history tonight when he suited up at home against the Chicago White Sox. It was his 746th consecutive game played. His streak dated all the way back to May 2, 2021. Olson passed Pete Rose for the 12th-longest streak of consecutive games played in MLB history. Next up on the list is Nellie Fox with 798 consecutive games played. The first baseman will not be able to pass Fox until early in the 2026 season. Will the star player play every game for the remainder of the year and keep his great streak going?

Olson has been one of the best players in the league for a decade. He debuted in 2016 with the then-Oakland Athletics. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the A’s before coming over to the Atlanta Braves before the 2021 campaign.
Olson is a three-time MLB All-Star, two-time Gold Glove Award winner, and a Silver Slugger. The best season of his career came in 2023 when he finished fourth in NL MVP voting and led the league in home runs, RBI, and Slugging Percentage. While he has been good ever since, he has been unable to play at that high a level since.
Olson and the Braves return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon for the final game of their three-game set against the Chicago White Sox. The veteran first baseman has been a model of consistency not seen in sports nowadays. He will look to keep it going as long as he can.
