Atlanta Braves Making Unwelcome Change to Uniforms in 2024
USA TODAY Sports

According to Paul Lukas of Uni-Watch, the Atlanta Braves are making a big change to their navy blue alternate uniforms for the 2024 season.

The Braves will have red piping on the uniforms instead of white. The piping will go behind the neck of the players and down the front by buttons, as well as along the sleeves.

Lukas had this to say and included comparison pictures which can be seen here:

"As you can see above, Atlanta rolled out an unexpected change to their navy road alternate jersey during today’s spring training workout. The grey headspoon piping and sleeve trim are now red.

Perhaps it's just the opinion of this writer, but I'm not a fan of the change. With the navy blue and red combination, the team looks too much like the Minnesota Twins. When you pair these changes with the red spring training hats, they really look like the Twins, who have had a red hat in their arsenal at points of the 2000s.

This is not the first uniform-related issue of spring training. In general, the Fanatics-Nike partnership has been panned by players and fans across the league.

As for how the Braves will actually play in 2024, as opposed to how they'll look, they should be one of the best teams in baseball again. They won the National League East in 2023 but were beaten in the National League Division Series by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Atlanta last won a World Series in 2021.
