The Atlanta Braves start a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs tonight. The Braves dropped two of three to the Cubs last week despite outscoring them 14-12. Atlanta is 2-4 to start September, averaging 3.7 runs per game while allowing 6.8 runs per game. The Braves made the following roster moves ahead of tonight’s series opener. They placed catcher Sean Murphy on the injured list with a right hip labral tear. To replace Murphy, they recalled catcher Sandy León from Triple-A Gwinnett. Atlanta also optioned left-handed pitcher Hayden Harris to Gwinnett, recalling right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning from Triple-A. They also announced they activated Alexis Díaz and designated right-handed pitcher John Brebbia for assignment. Another move for the bullpen was optioning Rolddy Muñoz to Triple-A and recalling right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold.

Murphy, this season in 94 games, hit .199 with a .709 OPS. He had 13 doubles, 16 home runs, 45 RBI, 34 runs scored, and 35 walks. In three games at Gwinnett, he went 2-10 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored.
León this season is 0-1 for Atlanta with a strikeout. In 58 games for Gwinnett, he’s hit .166 with a .603 OPS. He has six doubles, ten home runs, 19 RBI, 19 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 18 walks.
Harris, this season in three games for the Braves, posts a 3.38 ERA, a 1.88 WHIP, and hasn’t recorded a strikeout in 2.2 innings. In 39 games between Double-A and Triple-A, he’s 6-0. Harris has a 0.56 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 48 innings.
Dunning has been between the big leagues and the minors since being acquired on July 18th. In five games for the Braves, he posts a 12.15 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings. In five games at Triple-A, with three of those coming as starts, he is 2-1 with a 5.57 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 21 innings.
Díaz, this season in 15 games between the Reds and Dodgers, went 1-0. He posted a 7.80 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 15 innings. The Dodgers designated him for assignment the other day.
Brebbia has been in three games for the Braves this season is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 4.2 innings. In 15 games at Triple-A, he went 1-1 with a 1.89 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 19 innings.
Muñoz, this season in three games with Atlanta, posts a 12.27 ERA, a 2.46 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. In 37 games between Double-A and Triple-A, with three of those coming as starts, he went 3-3. He posted a 2.75 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts in 55.2 innings.
Seabold, in one game with Atlanta, went 1.1 innings, giving up two runs on two hits; he walked one and struck out one. In five games at Gwinnett, he went 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings.
