The Baltimore Orioles announced a plethora of news Wednesday afternoon as they have recalled right-hander Yennier Cano and selected the contract of fellow right-hander Corbin Martin from Triple-A Norfolk. In corresponding moves, Baltimore has designated 34-year-old right-hander Matt Bowman for assignment and placed left-hander Keegan Akin on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 1.

Cano, 31, has appeared in 32 games for the Orioles in 2025 with a record of 1-4, sustaining an ERA of north of five, and a WHIP of 1.39. He had a minor stint with Norfolk, only allowing one earned run over two innings.

Bowman had previously been designated for assignment by Baltimore's three previous times. In his 2025 campaign so far, he has posted a 5.79 ERA in 19 games pitched for Baltimore. A standout stat regarding Bowman is his excellent walk %, which is at 5.6%.

Martin, 29, was a previous top 100 prospect, has played 17 games in the majors, posting an ERA of 6.71 in 57.2 innings pitched. He has more respect down in the minors, where he has posted an ERA just above four in 372 innings pitched.  He has punched out 391 batters and also has a 1.34 WHIP.

Akin has been a crucial piece to the Orioles' pitching staff, posting a 3.32 ERA across 38 innings pitched this year for Baltimore. Akin's last appearance was a rough one as he was tagged for three runs and the lack of velocity was puzzling to say the least. There is no timetable return for Akin, but he will sit atleast until after the All-Star Break.
