Best Baseball Walk-Up Songs

Ah, the walk-up song. Baseball isn’t exactly known as the most individualistic of sports.

Sure, a pitcher is on the mound alone. The batter is in the box alone. But it’s only been since 2021 that every Major League Baseball Team has embraced uniform alteration. Fans appreciate the City Connect looks, too, even if they don’t always like a particular team’s look.

One of the few ways a player, himself, can individualize is through his choice of music as he steps to the plate. And because it’s an opportunity to portray a part of identity, walk-up songs have run the gamut from the silly and comical to the serious and foreboding.

Byron Buxton’s “Return of the Mack” run with the Minnesota Twins is a great example of blending both. Now-retired infielder Miguel Tejada used Toby Keith’s “I’m Not as Good as I Once Was” in the final years of his career to comedic effect. But we’re trying not to identify songs with players here so much.

For the purposes of this list of top 10 walk-up songs, we wanted to focus on different aspects. Everyone’s taste is different, but we’re going to attempt to incorporate a little bit of everything. From classic rock to pop hits and plenty in between, these are our choices for the 10 best (popular-ish) choices.

Of course, if it were up to this author, the choices might run a bit more niche. But that’s less fun. Here we go.

Travis Scott - “Sicko Mode”

Led Zeppelin - “Immigrant Song”

Charlie Daniels Band - “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”

P.O.D. - “Boom”

Bad Bunny - “Titi Me Pregunta”

Shaggy - “Boombastic”

Big Tymers - “Still Fly”

Sade - “Smooth Operator”

Sir Mix-a-Lot - “Baby Got Back”
