The 'Last batting title by MLB team' quiz

For four years, Tim Anderson was one of the most exciting hitters in all of baseball and he seemed set for stardom with the Chicago White Sox.. 

But after appearing in over 100 games just once since 2022, the two-time All-Star and 2019 American League batting champion is hanging up his cleats. 

In his 10 year career, Anderson hit better than .300 four times, led the American League in runs in the Covid-shortened 2020 season and delivered an iconic walk-off home run against the New York Yankees in a classic inaugural Field of Dreams game. He was also on the receiving end of one of the more sweetly-connected punches in baseball history after getting into a fight with Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez in 2023. 

Anderson was granted free agency by the White Sox in November 2023, signing with the Miami Marlins for the 2024 campaign. He was released in July of that season, and played just 31 games with the Angels in 2025 before being released once again. 

While his career began with a bang – finishing seventh in 2016 Rookie of the Year voting – and ended with a fizzle, Anderson should be remembered by White Sox fans for a long time.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Anderson’s batting title in 2019 was the first won by a White Sox player since the great Frank Thomas did it in 1997. With that being said, can you name the most recent player to win a batting title for each MLB franchise? 

Note: Player must have played the entire season with a single club to qualify for this quiz. Luis Arraez in 2024 and Trea Turner in 2021 were both traded and played for multiple teams.
