The Los Angeles Dodgers feature the most talented 40‑man roster in MLB. As the 2026 season approaches, the club remains the most formidable opponent for every other team as it searches for a third straight World Series title.
One of their biggest strengths is a pitching staff loaded with arms capable of performing at the top of the league. Among them is left‑hander Blake Snell, who has already been recognized as the best in the sport at his peak as a two‑time Cy Young Award winner, All‑Star and two‑time ERA title winner.
The 33‑year‑old arrived last offseason on a five‑year, $182.5 million contract and, despite missing four months in 2025 due to left shoulder inflammation, delivered when it mattered most by playing a pivotal role in the Dodgers’ championship run.
In the postseason, Snell made 6 appearances and earned 3 wins while posting a 3.18 ERA with 41 strikeouts across 34 innings. His ability to rise to the moment helped stabilize the rotation and reinforced why the Dodgers invested so heavily in him.
Snell has fit in seamlessly with the organization and has often expressed how much he enjoys being part of the clubhouse. He built strong relationships with several teammates last season, so when one of those teammates returned, he reacted quickly.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers brought back reliever Evan Phillips on a one‑year, $6.5 million deal. Snell reposted MLB’s announcement on his Instagram story and added the caption, “Hello ” to celebrate the move.

Phillips is not expected to return until the second half of the 2026 season as he continues recovering from Tommy John surgery, but when healthy he has been one of the most effective relievers in baseball.
Over the last five years with Los Angeles, he recorded a 2.22 ERA across 195 innings with 221 strikeouts. Injuries have limited him recently, yet the Dodgers’ seemingly unlimited financial flexibility makes the risk minimal.
For Snell, the return of Phillips represents another familiar and trusted arm joining a staff built to chase another title, and it reinforces the stability around him as he prepares for a full, healthy season in Los Angeles.
