Blue Jays: 2025 Arizona Fall League Game 7 recap

The Glendale Desert Dogs are back in the win column.

On Friday evening, the Desert Dogs and Toronto Blue Jays prospects smashed the Surprise Saguaros by a score of 10-1, moving their record to 3-4 for the season. It was just the second loss this season for the Saguaros.

Only two Blue Jays prospects participated in this game, Cutter Coffey and Yondrei Rojas. Edward Duran and Josh Kasevich sat on the bench, while Alex Amalfi, Kap Peterson, Kelena Sauer, and Chay Yeager remained in the bullpen.

Coffey, playing second base, had his first plate appearance to lead off the second inning. It was a soft groundout. He hit another groundout in the top of the third, ending the inning with a forceout.

In his third plate appearance, Coffey walked on five pitches, but was stranded at first after the next batter popped out to end the inning. His lone strikeout came in the top of the seventh, as he was caught looking at a pitch that just barely nicked the outside of the strike zone.

His last plate appearance saw him hit a bloop single off a pitch that was up near his hands. With that, Coffey’s six-game hitting streak continued as he’s now slashing .385/.429/.423 with a double in 28 plate appearances.

Diving deeper into the stats, Coffey had one hard hit ball (95+ mph), as his forceout had an exit velocity of 100.5 mph. His bloop single had an exit velocity of 67.4 mph, while the other ball he put in play had a 58.6 mph exit velocity.

As for Rojas, the 22-year-old right-handed pitcher threw just five pitches, retiring the lone batter he faced. Two of his pitches were sinks, averaging 95.4 mph, while the lone four-seam fastball he threw clocked in at 96.1 mph. Rojas also threw two cutters.
