The Toronto Blue Jays realtered their roster before facing the Texas Rangers Sunday. And not just limited to promoting Sean Keys either. Toronto landed a catcher via the Athletics.

The American League franchise officially loses Owen Carapellotti, with Toronto revealing the move Saturday evening. The A’s receive a new addition in exchange.

“The Athletics have acquired right-handed pitcher Hayden Juenger from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for minor league catcher Owen Carapellotti,” the franchise announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.

But a corresponding roster move became needed from the A’s.

“To make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Brett Harris has been designated for assignment,” the team added.

Carapellotti soon will join the likes of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., manager John Schneider, and the AL champs. The infielder played for the Blue Jays’ Single-A affiliate in Dunedin.

The former Georgetown star delivered 19 runs while pounding 20 hits. He ripped eight home runs too down in Single-A while driving in 20 runners.

Carapellotti rose as a big star in Washington D.C. He earned Freshman All-American honors for the Hoyas in 2022 after smacking eight homers with 18 doubles. He batted .314 in Big East Conference play. Carapellotti then landed on the All-Big East second team for batting .289 featuring 16 home runs and 44 RBIs.

He joins more than Guerrero. Carapellotti joins a catcher lineup that features Alejandro Kirk and Brandon Valenzuela. Although Toronto is rising as major players before the MLB Trade Deadline. Kevin Gausman is one name to watch in the trade market.

Toronto took a 7-4 loss to the Rangers on Sunday, coming after the Carapellotti deal.
