The 'Most K's through 30 MLB starts' quiz

With the New York Yankees pitching staff missing Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon and Max Fried at times so far this season, they’ve needed consistency from somewhere.

They’ve gotten it from 25 year old Cam Schlittler, who not only leads MLB in games started and the American League in innings pitched, but is doing it in dominant fashion. The Massachusetts native showed off once again against the Cincinnati Reds, striking out 13 batters and allowing four hits in six shutout, walk-less innings –  setting a Yankee-record for the youngest pitcher to do so in the process.

Schlittler has already surpassed his start total from 2025 with his 16th on June 19 and he boasts an A.L.-best 1.71 ERA with 109 K’s and an 8-3 record. Dating back to his MLB debut on July 9, 2025, Schlittler has now made the equivalent of a full season of starts with the 30th of his career in the win against the Reds.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Schlittler’s 193 strikeouts through his first 30 regular season starts are 21st-most by a pitcher in the Live-Ball Era (since 1920). How many of the pitchers with at least 180 strikeouts through their first 30 starts can you name in six minutes?

Good luck!
