Blue Jays activate RHP Trey Yesavage (knee) from IL

The Toronto Blue Jays activated right-hander Trey Yesavage from the injured list Monday and is slated to start the opener of a key three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Blue Jays also recalled right-hander Chad Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo, optioned right-hander Spencer Arrighetti to the Florida Complex League and designated left-hander Joe Mantiply for assignment.

Yesavage, 23, has been out since Aug. 4 with a left knee injury that required a surgical procedure. He is 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA in 18 starts this season.

The Blue Jays are three games out of the final wild-card spot in the American League and will need plenty of help in order to return to the playoffs.

Dallas, 26, made his major league debut in June and went 2-1 with a 6.10 ERA in four relief appearances. Arrighetti, 26, is 9-9 with a 4.96 ERA in 24 appearances (19 starts) for the Houston Astros and Blue Jays this season.

Mantiply, 35, went 2-0 with a 3.33 ERA in 25 relief appearances for Toronto this season. In nine major leagues seasons, including six with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he is 13-13 with a 4.41 ERA in 281 appearances (five starts).
