Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk has had a great career in Major League Baseball, but he really solidified his stardom in Toronto during the 2025 postseason.
Through six years in the big leagues, Kirk has played 564 games with a slash line of .268/.345/.398 with an OPS of .743, totaling 51 home runs and 263 RBIs. He has made two All-Star Game appearances and won one American League Silver Slugger in his Blue Jays tenure.
In the 2025 regular season, the 27-year-old, Tijuana, Mexico, native played 130 games, batting .282 with a .769 OPS, 15 homers and 76 RBIs. In the playoffs, he was fantastic, starting all 18 games behind the plate, blasting five long balls, while driving in 13 runs.
This spring, Kirk made the decision to compete for his home country of Mexico in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. He was the starting catcher for Team Mexico, who had to compete with the United States, Italy and Brazil in Pool B of the tournament.
In four pool play games, Kirk went 4-for-15 at the plate with an OPS of .800, crushing one homer with four RBIs.
On Wednesday, Kirk and Team Mexico were dealt some bad news, as they were eliminated from the WBC after falling to Team Italy, 9-1.

This loss to Team Italy dropped Team Mexico to 2-2 in pool play, as it finished in third place in Pool B behind the Italians (4-0) and the U.S. (3-1). This means that Kirk and Mexico will not advance to the quarterfinals of the WBC.
Kirk will now go back to Blue Jays spring training in Dunedin, Florida, as Toronto gears up to defend its AL pennant in 2026.
