The Toronto Blue Jays are beginning to turn a corner. After four straight losses that dropped its overall record to 16-20, Toronto has now won four straight to pull even at 20-20. This was culminated in a sweep of the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
Keeping pace in the AL East, the Blue Jays are just three games back of the first place New York Yankees. Sunday's contest saw several players contribute, including right-handed hitting catcher Alejandro Kirk.
Going 1-for-2 with a run scored, Kirk raised his season batting average to .286, which would be a career-high across a full season.
Unfortunately for Toronto, Kirk was forced to leave the game in the fifth inning after taking a follow through swing to the mask.
"Tyler Heineman is in the dugout now with his catchers gear on," MLB insider Hazel Mae first reported on X. "Looks like starter Alejandro Kirk is out of the game as a precaution after getting hit in the back of his mask on a follow through swing."

As Mae reported, it was presumed Kirk got removed due to being struck on a follow through swing. This was confirmed after the game, and the Blue Jays announced an official injury designation via manager John Schneider.
"Alejandro Kirk has a 'head contusion' but the #BlueJays will still test him tomorrow in Toronto," Keegan Matheson of MLB.com revealed. "Schneider says the bat clipped him and his helmet in a weird spot, which got his ear."
Kirk signed a five-year, $58 million contract extension in March that will make him Toronto's longterm starting catcher.
