The Toronto Blue Jays will enter Sunday’s Game 6 matchup of the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners with their season on the line. Toronto must win two consecutive games to advance to the World Series for the first time since 1993.
Pressure is mounting on the Blue Jays offense to continue producing despite the absence of All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette, who has not progressed enough from his left knee sprain to return to the active roster. The injury came at an unfortunate time for Toronto, as Bichette was one of the most productive players in the league before going down in September. Over his final 46 games of the regular season, he posted a .370 batting average, .423 on-base percentage, .989 OPS, six home runs and 41 RBIs.
Toronto continues to hold out hope that Bichette could return to the roster if the team reaches the World Series. He has done everything in his power to get back on the field, but discomfort while running the bases kept him off the ALCS roster.
On Saturday, Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an encouraging update, sharing that Bichette has been making progress running on the field and will get another opportunity to test his mobility on the basepaths. Schneider also noted that Bichette’s swing has improved, saying "he is definitely making progress with his swing as well," according to Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling.
Bo Bichette (left PCL sprain) has increased running volume on field but hasn’t run the bases yet, per Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

It’s possible Bichette attempts running the bases on Saturday. Schneider says Bichette’s “definitely making progress with his swing, as well.”
For now, the Blue Jays are focused on winning two straight games and capturing the AL pennant. Still, the possibility of Bichette returning even in a limited role as designated hitter offers hope and added depth to the lineup.
Over the past seven seasons, Bichette has fought to help lead Toronto on a deep playoff run, and the timing of his injury is unfortunate as he continues to be unavailable. He is entering unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career, and while there is mutual interest in a reunion, there is a chance the next time Bichette takes the field could be with a new organization.
