
The Glendale Desert Dogs have snapped their seven-game losing streak.
On Sunday evening, the Desert Dogs and Toronto Blue Jays prospects defeated the Salt River Rafters 10-4, moving their season record to 4-11. All three of the position players the Blue Jays sent to the Arizona Fall League played in this game, while none of the four pitchers made an appearance.
Josh Kasevich batted cleanup, Cutter Coffey batted sixth, and Edward Duran batted eighth. With runners on the corners in the first inning, Kasevich struck out on four pitches for the Desert Dogs’ first out, and Coffey grounded out to end the inning.
Duran batted second in the bottom of the second and hit his second triple of the season to drive in a run. Kasevich was back up in the bottom of the third, hitting a single to give the Desert Dogs a runner. However, he was left stranded when Coffey struck out to end the inning.
The Desert Dogs scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Duran wasn’t a part of it as he grounded out in his at-bat. Leading off the bottom of the fifth, Kasevich earned a four-pitch walk, but was thrown out trying to take second. Coffey also walked on four pitches in this inning.
Leading off the bottom of the sixth, Duran lined out as the Desert Dogs went 1-2-3. The only time all three Blue Jays’ hitters batted in the same inning. Kasevich walked, and with the bases loaded, Coffey hit a bases-clearing double to give the Desert Dogs a 9-4 lead. Unfortunately, Duran grounded out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, Kasevich hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the Desert Dogs’ 10th run in a 10-4 win.
Diving deeper into the stats, Kasevich hit two balls into play. The sacrifice fly had an exit velocity of 79.9, but his single in the third inning came at 101.1 mph off the bat. Duran hit four balls in play; the triple had an exit velocity of 99.9 mph, while the lineout had an exit velocity of 82.3 mph, and the two groundouts had an exit velocity of 76.8 mph and 74.8 mph, respectively.
Lastly, both balls Coffey put in play were considered hard hit. The bases-clearing double came off the bat at 99 mph, while his first inning groundout had an exit velocity of 99.6 mph.
Next up for the Desert Dogs is a matchup on the road against the Mesa Solar Sox on Tuesday at 4:30 PM ET.
