The time has come for highly-touted power-hitting prospect Sean Keys to join the big leagues.
The Toronto Blue Jays have called up the 23-year-old who has crushed 21 home runs across Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo this season. He will be activated on Saturday, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
Across 49 games in Double-A, he's logged a .285 batting average, with a .411 OBP, 14 home runs and 34 RBI. As well, across 18 games in Triple-A, he has recorded a .281 AVG, with a .403 OBP, seven home runs, and 20 RBI.
Keys has been on an offensive tear and is batting .284 overall with a stellar 1.028 OPS. The Blue Jays are in desperate need of more power in their lineup with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. still looking to find his rhythm this season with only four home runs across 282 at-bats. The slugger has also yet to homer at home this season.
While the Blue Jays have gained a ton of run production and elite power from Kazuma Okamoto, who hit his 18th home run in the ninth inning against the Texas Rangers on Friday, they will need more consistent offense and power in the lineup to back him up.

Their #14 prospect, he's hit 21 home runs this season between Double-A and Triple-A.
This season, Keys has delivered 36 extra-base hits in the minors and his home run power has been top-notch, making him very deserving of a promotion. As the Blue Jays' No. 14-ranked prospect via MLB Pipeline, Keys leads the minors with 21 home runs and his rapid progression through the minors has been a huge success story this season.
Fisher Cats general manager Taylor Fisher commented on Keys' promotion, writing, ''Sean is one of the best guys I've had the opportunity to meet that has come through the Fisher Cats. All about the kids, community and having fun. Can't wait to watch him hit tanks in Toronto!''
As a breakout candidate this season, Keys has exceeded expectations and illustrated his consistent ability to drive the ball up with a powerful swing.
The Blue Jays' 2024 draft provided the team with several top-notch prospects. Aside from Keys, who was drafted in the fourth round, the Blue Jays also took Trey Yesavage in the first found, Khal Stephen — who was traded for Shane Bieber — in the second round and Johnny King in the third round.
With the power that Keys has unleashed this season, he will be looking to provide a boost as the Blue Jays rank near the bottom of the league with 82 home runs hit this season.
