In the Toronto Blue Jays series wrap-up with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Davis Schneider stepped up when it mattered the most. While he didn't record a hit, he put up productive at-bats coming off the bench.
In the 7th inning, he came up with a pinch-hit walk, followed by scoring a run to tie the game in the 8th inning. He has a lot to offer and is more than just a platoon player.

What Schneider brings to the table
While Schneider isn't associated with a high batting average, he offers versatility, power, good baserunning, and solid plate discipline that is complemented by impressive walk-rates.
In 2025, he recorded a 15.9% walk-rate. Through the Blue Jays' six-game losing streak, walks were absent, and hitters were making poor swing decisions.
While the 27-year-old is recognized for his ability to hit against left-handed pitchers, he proved last season that he's just as effective against right-handed pitchers.
He generated a .913 OPS and 153 wRC+, enhancing his performance against righties.
Defying the odds makes him a compelling player who deserves more consistent playing time. While he's gone through struggles, his bounce-back potential was present in August of last season.
He produced a 1.051 OPS and a 189 wRC+ that highlighted him as a clutch hitter.
Having Schneider in the lineup on April 10th would be ideal, as the Minnesota Twins have Simeon Woods Richardson on the mound. Schneider is 4-5, with a double, and three bombs against him.
