Blue Jays designate Chad Green for assignment

It hasn’t been a great season for Green. After his performance on Tuesday afternoon, his ERA sits at 5.56, along with a 6.68 FIP. Green also gave up two home runs, with his 14 home runs being the most for any reliever in baseball. Green finished his Jays’ tenure with a 4.42 ERA in 108 innings pitched.

Domínguez had to walk just a minute and a half to join the Blue Jays, as the Jays acquired him from the Baltimore Orioles, the team they are playing in a four-game series. He’s active for the second game of the doubleheader and has a 3.24 ERA and 3.47 FIP in 41.2 innings pitched this season, with a 30.9 K% and 13.7 BB%.

Schultz’s most recent outing was on June 28, before being placed on the Injured List because of a finger injury. So far this season, the 27-year-old righty has a 4.56 ERA and 4.15 FIP in 23.2 innings pitched. He’ll give the Jays length if needed on Tuesday.

Lastly, the Jays optioned Lucas, who started the first game of the doubleheader on Tuesday. It didn’t go well for the left-handed pitcher, as he gave up four earned runs (all on sacrifice flies) in two and two-thirds innings pitched. For the season, Lucas’ ERA sits at 6.66 with a 5.35 FIP.

Before the first game of the doubleheader, the Blue Jays optioned Justin Bruihl to Triple-A, calling up Lucas in his spot. For the 27th man, the Jays called up Lázaro Estrada, who also struggled in his outing on Tuesday.

As the trade deadline nears, expect more roster moves as the Jays will need to make room on the 40-man and 26-man rosters. Additionally, Anthony Santander, Alek Manoah, and Bowden Francis are on the 60-day Injured List, meaning 40-man roster transactions will need to happen when they are activated.
