Toronto Blue Jays enter the 2026 season carrying the weight of unfinished business after coming within one win of a championship. Toronto finished the 2025 campaign as American League East champions with a 94-68 record and carried that momentum through October, defeating the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners to reach the World Series.

The Blue Jays pushed the Los Angeles Dodgers to seven games before falling in what was widely regarded as one of the most competitive Fall Classics in recent memory.

With that run behind them, Toronto now turns its focus to Opening Day. The Blue Jays are set to begin the 2026 season at home against the Athletics, aiming to build on last year’s success and take the final step.

Ahead of the opener, the organization made an exciting move inside Rogers Centre. According to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson, the club has prepared its 2025 postseason banners for unveiling, a moment that will commemorate their AL pennant-winning season.

The team will also showcase its two World Series trophies alongside memorabilia from previous playoff squads in the right-field concourse. Fans will have full access to the display, which stretches across the 100 Level and offers a closer look at the franchise’s recent achievements.

Toronto enters the year with a reshaped but still formidable roster. Vladimir Guerrero Jr . remains the centerpiece of the lineup, alongside key contributors such as George Springer and Alejandro Kirk.

The Blue Jays also made a major investment in their rotation, signing Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal, the largest pitching contract in franchise history.  He joins a rotation that boasts one of the deepest pitching staffs in the American League led by Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber, Max Scherzer, José Berríos, and Trey Yesavage, who will start the season on the IL with a right shoulder impingement , according to manager John Schneider.

The most notable offseason change came with the departure of Bo Bichette, who signed with the New York Mets on a three-year deal.

The Blue Jays will host the Athletics at Rogers Centre, with first pitch scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET, as they begin another push toward a championship after falling just short the year before.
