The Toronto Blue Jays are hosting the Athletics on Saturday in the third game of a four-game series at Rogers Centre. Taking the first two contests, Toronto improved to 29-28 on the season, which is 6.5 games back of the New York Yankees in the American League East.

Falling in an early 3-0 hole on Saturday, the Blue Jays trailed by three runs before stepping to bat in the first inning. Responding with a four-run bottom half of the first, Toronto regained the lead before surrendering it again in the second.

This back-and-forth start continued when shortstop Bo Bichette launched a game-tying solo shot in the bottom of the second.

Bichette has been one of MLB's best offensive shortstops since his debut it 2019. Entering play on Saturday, the right-handed hitting infielder owned a 118 OPS+ for his career. While he started slow in the power department this year, Bichette has now hit three home runs in his last four games.

Saturday's home run was the 100th of Bichette's career, making him the first shortstop in Blue Jays franchise history to reach that milestone. The team announced this historic news in a post on X.

Bichette is a two-time All-Star and in line for a big contract this offseason. A second round pick in 2016, Bichette has played his entire career in Toronto, but is in the final year of his deal that pays him $17.5 million this season.

If he can keep up his recent production, Bichette will command a large payday this upcoming winter.
