Major League Baseball just experienced one of the most lopsided series' between two teams in the history of the sport. The Toronto Blue Jays took their talents on the road this week, as they faced off in a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies.

The Blue Jays entered this series with the best record in the American League, sporting one of the best offenses in all of baseball. On the other hand, the Rockies have sported the worst record in the league for the majority of the year.

While the Blue Jays dominating the Rockies for three straight games was not out of the realm of possibilities, no one could have predicted the level of dominance that transpired.

Blue Jays Offense Dominates, Breaking MLB Record

The Blue Jays made MLB and franchise history during their three-game beatdown of the Rockies.

The Blue Jays collected 63 hits as team, which is the most in a single series in MLB history in the modern era (1901).

Their 45 total runs scored is the most in a single series in Blue Jays franchise history.

The Blue Jays won the first game of this series, on Monday, 15-1, collecting 25 hits. The second game, on Tuesday, was a 10-4 victory that featured 14 hits. And the final game, on Wednesday, got seriously out of hand, with the Blue Jays winning 20-1, finishing with 24 hits.

This series saw the Blue Jays hammer 13 total home runs and highlighted the disparity between the AL's best team and the NL's worst team.

The Blue Jays hold the best record in the AL (68-48) and lead the league in hits, batting average, and on-base %.

The Rockies hold the worst record in all of MLB (30-84) and rank dead last in ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, and run differential. They are also on pace to win just 42 games, which would rank as the second-worst record, in a 162-game season, in MLB history.

The Blue Jays now find themselves with a 3.5 game lead over the second-place Boston Red Sox in the AL East and are also two full games clear of the Detroit Tigers for the best record in the AL.
