Orelvis Martinez has hit his 10th home run of the season

This is the June 30 – July 3 edition of the Minor League Report, where we look at how the last three days have gone for each of the Toronto Blue Jays’ affiliates. We’ll look at the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, High-A Vancouver Canadians, Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, FCL Jays, and their two DSL teams in this article. Bisons’ four-game winning streak snapped

Coming into Tuesday’s series opener, the Buffalo Bisons were on a two-game winning streak. They bumped it to three thanks to a 2-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings, with Will Robertson hitting his 10th double of the season. Robinson Pina made the start, striking out four and giving up an earned run in two innings of work. Anders Tolhurst pitched six innings with one hit allowed, striking out six.

They followed that up with a 5-3 win on Wednesday. Robertson, Joey Loperfido, Riley Tirotta, and Rainer Nunez all hit doubles in the game. Adam Macko made the start, giving up two earned runs in three and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts. Ryan Burr pitched in this game, striking out two in his inning of work.

Their four-game win streak was snapped on Thursday. Down 6-0, the Bisons stormed back to take an eight-run lead in the second inning, but a big top of the eighth for the Red Wings gave them a 14-8 win. Robertson hit his 14th home run of the season, Tirotta hit his ninth homer of the season, and Orelvis Martinez hit his 10th home run of the season. Loperfido also hit his 19th double of the season.

Fisher Cats win two of three to start the week

In extra innings, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats allowed six runs in the top of the 11th to fall 11-6 to the Portland Sea Dogs. Jace Bohrofen hit his 10th home run, and Gabriel Martinez hit his first home run of the season. Trey Yesavage had a tough start, giving up four earned runs in two and one-third innings of work. Pat Gallagher struck out four in a scoreless 3.2 innings of work.

They got into the win column on Wednesday, defeating the Sea Dogs 4-1. Charles McAdoo hit his sixth home run as Jackson Hornung, Peyton Williams, and Je’Von Ward all hit doubles. Grant Rogers pitched seven innings, giving up one earned run and striking out four. Alex Amalfi registered the save, pitching two clean innings with four strikeouts.

On Thursday, the Fisher Cats defeated the Sea Dogs 7-5 for their second consecutive win. McAdoo hit his second home run in as many games, while Williams hit his 10th double of the season. Ryan Watson pitched six innings with four earned runs allowed. Nate Garkow allowed his first earned run in Double-A, while Grayson Thurman struck out both batters he faced.

Canadians are on a two-game win streak

On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canadians fell 2-1 to the Everett AquaSox. Victor Arias hit his fourth triple of the season, along with a single, as the Canadians registered just five hits. Jackson Wentworth made the start, going six innings with two earned runs and three strikeouts.

The Canadians got back in the win column on Wednesday, defeating the AquaSox 7-3. Arias hit another triple and single, while Sean Keys and Eddie Micheletti Jr. hit doubles. Keys had a two-hit game. Starting the game was Gage Stanifer, who struck out nine in five and one-third innings of one-hit ball. Javen Coleman struck out two, and Yondrei Rojas struck out four of the six batters he faced for the save.

On Thursday, the Canadians walked off the AquaSox, defeating them 6-5. Arias had another extra-base hit, this time his fifth home run of the season, as well as a single. Micheletti Jr. also had a two-hit game. Jay Harry walked off the game in the bottom of the 10th. Chris McElvain made the start, going 3.1 innings pitched with two earned runs allowed and three strikeouts. Kai Peterson pitched an inning and two-thirds, striking out three. Aaron Munson also struck out three, pitching three innings.

D-Jays lost their first two games

The Dunedin Blue Jays played two games to start the week, falling 10-3 to the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday. Manuel Beltre’s third home run of the season was their lone extra-base hit, while Edward Duran had a two-hit game. Landen Maroudis had a tough start, giving up six earned runs (four walks) in an inning and a third. Eliander Alcalde struck out three in 2.2 innings pitched, Amir Garett struck out a batter in his inning of work, and Nate LaRue struck out three in two innings of work.

On Wednesday, the D-Jays fell 2-0. It was a strong start for Austin Gates, going five scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Gilberto Batista was the losing pitcher, giving up two earned runs in three innings of work with three strikeouts. Alex De Jesus and Sam Shaw each had a two-hit game, with the latter hitting the D-Jays’ only extra-base hit, a double.

FCL Jays defeat FCL Phillies 9-4

Thanks to rain in the area, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays completed one game since the last Minor League Report, defeating the FCL Phillies 9-4 on Tuesday. Yorman Licourt hit three doubles, the three extra-base hits the FCL Jays had. San Omosako made the start, giving up one earned run with five strikeouts in five innings. Eduar Gonzalez pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three.

DSL Blue Jays Red lost two of three

The Dominican Summer League Blue Jays (Red) lost two of the three games they played since the last Minor League Report. On Monday, they defeated the DSL Giants Black 7-4. Juan Sanchez hit his fourth double of the season, and Luis Felipe hit his third double of the season. Luis Fonseca pitched six innings with four runs allowed (one earned), while striking out four.

On Tuesday, the DSL Blue Jays Red fell to the DSL Tigers 1. Kennew Blanco hit two doubles, and Sanchez hit his fifth double of the season. It was a tough start for Luis Victorino, giving up six runs (one earned) in two-thirds of an inning. Johandi Medina struck out three in three innings of work, and Antony De Los Santos struck out two in two-thirds of an inning.

They lost their second game in a row on Thursday, falling 5-3 to the DSL Pirates Black. Diego Arce hit his third double of the season, the DSL Blue Jays Red’s lone extra-base hit. Bryan Borbon started the game, striking out five in four scoreless innings.

DSL Blue Jays Blue won two of three

The DSL Blue Jays Blue won two of three games but fell 5-1 to the DSL White Sox on Monday. Diego Dominguez had their lone hit, narrowly avoiding the no-hitter. Cristhian Duarte made the start, giving up three earned runs in three innings of work, striking out five.

They returned to the win column on Tuesday, defeating the DSL Cubs Red 3-2 in eight innings. Franklin Rojas hit his second career home run and had a three-hit game. Juarlin Soto also had a two-hit game. Making the start was Jose Andrades, who struck out four in three innings, giving up one earned run. Jhon Rivas struck out two in two scoreless innings, and Juan Ramirez struck out two and walked two in an inning of work.

On Thursday, they got their revenge against the DSL White Sox, defeating them 7-1. Rojas and Soto hit doubles, while David Guzman hit a home run and triple, which made up all five of their hits. Deiker Pineda made the start, going five innings with one run allowed and two strikeouts. Edrwin Veras struck out two in two scoreless innings.
