Outfielder Kyle Tucker remains available in MLB free agency as spring training approaches, with league-wide interest in his services running high. That comes as no surprise given his impressive track record across eight seasons.
The 28-year-old superstar has already earned four All-Star selections, two Silver Sluggers, a Gold Glove and a 2022 World Series title with the Houston Astros.
Tucker is coming off another strong campaign in 2025 with the Chicago Cubs, where he posted a .266 batting average, .377 on-base percentage, .841 OPS, 22 home runs, 25 stolen bases and 73 RBIs in 136 games.
Despite his production, a return to Chicago appears unlikely after the Cubs committed $175 million over five years to his former teammate Alex Bregman, leaving little payroll flexibility to retain both players.
As a result, the Toronto Blue Jays have emerged as frontrunners to land Tucker, potentially capping off what has already been a highly successful offseason.
Fresh off a 2025 World Series appearance, Toronto’s front office has remained aggressive, reinvesting revenue from last year directly back into the roster.
On Sunday, the Blue Jays received an update that they are not alone in their pursuit, with two other clubs entering more serious talks with Tucker.
The very team that defeated them in the Fall Classic, the Los Angeles Dodgers, along with the New York Mets, whose payroll has consistently ranked near the top of the league under owner Steve Cohen, have also hosted meetings with Tucker, according to MLB Network’s Jim Duquette.
A League source confirmed to me that the three main teams involved in the Tucker negotiations (Tor, LAD, NYM) have all met with the player, either in person or over Zoom, as part of the recruiting process for a star player. Will be interesting to see if any of the 3 teams…

Tucker’s free agency has quickly become one of the defining storylines of the offseason, with his rare combination of power, speed and defensive ability making him a coveted target.
For Toronto, adding Tucker would provide lineup protection for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer while also giving the team a proven postseason performer.
The Dodgers view Tucker as a potential solution for their outfield depth, aiming to maintain their reputation as perennial contenders.
The Mets, with their aggressive spending under Cohen, see Tucker as a foundational piece to pair with Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, creating one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball.
Tucker’s decision will likely hinge on contract length and average annual value, as he weighs short-term flexibility against long-term security.
Wherever he signs, his arrival has the potential to reshape the balance of power across the league, making his market one of the most closely watched this winter.
