Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. silencing critics with high-level offense

The Toronto Blue Jays' 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels demonstrated that their franchise player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., remains consistent in his offense.

Despite the lower home run pace early this season, his two-run home run on Monday was a positive sign.

Evidently, when it comes to Guerrero, we know he is notorious for being a slow starter in unleashing power.

He is recognized for maintaining a high batting average, but with lower home run totals to start the season. It takes time for the slugger to generate a groove, which normally surfaces later in the season.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on pace for a strong season

Evidently, when it comes to Guerrero, we know he is notorious for being a slow starter in unleashing power.

He is recognized for maintaining a high batting average, but with lower home run totals to start the season. It takes time for the slugger to generate a groove, which normally surfaces later in the season.

During the Blue Jays' early-season struggles, there have been countless instances of backlash blaming Guerrero for the team's offensive struggles

But this is false, as Guerrero has been consistent with his contact, even though he recorded his second home run only in late April.

Slow starts are usually defined by a high groundball rate. Early this season, he has sported a 52.8% rate, reducing his home run production abilities.

Through the first 21 games this season, Guerrero is batting .333 with a 10-game hitting streak, showcasing his solid contact.

He has also improved his swing rates by laying off pitches that are hard to resist. Overall, this has resulted in fewer strikeouts and better contact. While we would all love for Guerrero to be hitting more home runs, the reliable contact he has provided demonstrates how he's a well-rounded player.

The numbers speak for themselves as he has a 170 wRC+ along with a .447 OBP. While Guerrero has also run into some defensive errors recently, he has also made some spectacular defensive plays at first, owning up to his Gold Glove-caliber defense.
