Bobby Witt Jr. Makes Announcement Amid 5th Royals Season

Bobby Witt Jr. is batting .283 with 17 home runs, 38 stolen bases, and a .812 OPS this season, numbers that rank among the best at his position even as the Kansas City Royals fade from postseason contention.

The 26-year-old is a three-time All-Star and the 2024 American League batting champion. Witt has spent parts of the 2026 season on projects off the diamond.

On Friday, Witt announced a new partnership with Chinook Seedery, a sunflower seed company in which Witt owns a stake and helps run, and Wilson, unveiling the Bobby Witt Jr. A2000 BWJ7 Game Model glove featuring the look of Chinook Seedery’s Lemon Pepper Sunflower Seeds, complete with matching welting and design he has used in his gloves since debuting his own BWJ7 model.

To promote the release, Wilson and Chinook Seedery are giving away a glove and a bucket of sunflower seeds to two winners, encouraging fans to tag a friend for a chance to win. The companies said a winner will be selected Thursday, Sept. 10, and that winners will hear only from Wilson’s official Instagram account.

The rollout comes as the Royals sit at 63-79, in last place in the AL Central and effectively eliminated from playoff contention with less than a month left in the season. Kansas City has scuffled for much of 2026, and Witt himself missed time in July with low back tightness.

Still, Witt has remained one of the sport’s biggest stars for his defensive range and athleticism on the field. His status in the sport continues to grow just as quickly as it does off the field.
