The Boston Red Sox wrap up their three-game series in San Francisco today. The Red Sox won the opener 7-5 before losing the middle game yesterday 3-2. Lucas Giolito on the mound facing off against Robbie Ray. The Red Sox announced this afternoon that right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins is heading to the injured list. Richard Fitts is being recalled from Triple-A Worcester and will start for Dobbins on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels. Dobbins injury remains unknown as of now.

Dobbins has pitched well in his 12 appearances with the Red Sox. Ten of those came as starts going 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts in 59.1 innings. He pitched on Friday going four innings, giving up five runs, four earned on four hits. Dobbins walked five and struck out one. In three games at Worcester one of which was a start, he went 1-0 with a 6.39 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 12.2 innings.
Fitts in five starts with the Red Sox this season is 0-3 with a 4.71 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts in 21 innings. In four starts between Worcester and Double-A Portland, he is 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 15 innings. He pitched on Tuesday, picking up a win by going five shutout innings, allowing three hits. Fitts didn’t issue a walk but hit two batters and struck out three.
