In 2023, Witherspoon pitched for Sanford in the FCSL. He made one appearance, going 3.1 innings giving up three runs on two hits. He walked three and struck out six. In 2024, at Oklahoma, he made 17 appearances with 11 of those coming as starts. He went 8-3 with a 3.71 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts in 80 innings. That summer, he pitched at Chatham of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He made two starts, posting a 1.00 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in nine innings. The 6-foot, two-inch right-handed pitcher from Kansas City, MO, throws a fastball, a curveball, a slider, a cutter, and a changeup. He’s been a name to watch since high school, but ended up falling in this draft after being expected to be a top-ten pick. He has swing-and-miss stuff, with a fastball that is in the mid-90s.
