The Philadelphia Phillies made a classy move Friday when they gave a young fan a moment to remember.
Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run ball against the Miami Marlins that sparked a confrontation between a couple of Phillies fans in the left-field stands inside loanDepot Park in Miami, Fla. A middle-aged man won the mad scramble for the ball and brought it over to his son sitting about a dozen seats away.
A woman who had lost out on the ball charged at the man and demanded that he give her the ball. Rather than cause an even bigger scene, the man just gave in and reluctantly handed her the Bader home run ball.
The man and his son got a consolation prize a couple of innings later as a Marlins stadium staffer gave the kid a prize pack.

The goodie bag turned out to be an appetizer for what was to come. The Phillies later hooked up the aggrieved family with a rare postgame experience. Bader himself met with the group and had some one-on-one time with the boy. The Phillies veteran even gave the kid an autographed bat with a personal message for the young “Lincoln.”

Based on the family’s interaction with the Marlins stadium staffer, Lincoln was just days away from celebrating his birthday. Between the internet fame and backstage moment with Bader, the kid probably won’t forget his 2025 birthday anytime soon.
