Braves add another starting pitcher via the waiver wire
Jordan Godfree-Imagn Images

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Atlanta Braves have claimed right-handed pitcher Cal Quantrill off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

Cal Quantrill had some really promising moments early in his career for the Cleveland Guardians, posting a 3.08 ERA over 368.0 innings between 2020-2022. However, he’s recorded a 5.20 ERA over 357.2 innings in the three seasons since.

Quantrill is nothing more than an innings eater at this point in his career, but that’s exactly what the Braves need right now. Outside of Hurston Waldrep and Joey Wentz, this rotation has been an absolute disaster. We’ll see if the addition of Quantrill means a six-man rotation, or if someone from the current group is getting the boot.
