In a move that many have anticipated, the Braves have finally called up Wander Suero for the final game of the first half, optioning Daysbel Hernandez to Gwinnett to make room for him on the active roster.
The #Braves today also selected RHP Wander Suero to the major league roster, optioned RHP Daysbel Hernández to Triple-A Gwinnett, and designated RHP Michael Petersen for assignment.

Suero made his MLB debut back in 2018 and had some success early on in his career. But after being designated for assignment by the Nationals following the 2021 season, he’s been bouncing around looking for another opportunity, and Atlanta could be the place for him to work his way back into the league.
The 33-year-old right-hander has been nothing short of dominant for the Gwinnett Stripers this year, boasting a 1.50 ERA and 12.3 K/9 over 36 appearances.
We’ll see if this is something permanent, or if the Braves are just bringing up a fresh arm before the All-Star break. However, eventually, Wander Suero should get a long look at the major-league level, with many expecting the Braves to sell some relievers before the trade deadline at the end of the month.
